Welcome to
Moving Poetry

A Poetic movement...

Poetry: An Endangered Species? Not if I can help it.

My dream is to move poetry through and into as many lives as possible--moving, emotional poetry that changes you, that evokes an immediate response and revelation; meaning that stays with you days and weeks after the reading.

Workshops, Private Classes, Self-Publishing, Editing

Contact me for one on one workshops, or to start a workshop program at your local library, school, church, or coffee shop.  I also offer editing services, as well as helping you get your book or chapbook of poems published.

Eric Hafker holds a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Creative Writing  from Queens College, CUNY, and was the recipient of its  1990 James R. Kreuzer Poetry Prize. He also studied at  the Goethe-Institut in Murnau, Germany.

A former editor, Mr. Hafker now teaches at St. Francis Preparatory  School in Queens, NY, where he is also the faculty adviser for its  literary arts journal. His book of poems, Bare, won Honorable  Mention for the Writer’s Digest 2000 Self-Published Book Award for  Poetry. His poems have appeared in various journals, and his poem  “Parchment” won the Atlanta Review’s 2010 International Poetry Prize.  In the summer of 2013 he had the honor and privilege of being selected  to workshop his poems with Heather McHugh and Julie Sheehan at the  Southampton Writers Conference.   He lives with his wife and two sons on Long Island, NY.

He is the author of Bare, and is currently at work on his second

book of poems.
